NTL ANTICAP PETITION

The Petition             (To view or sign the petition on Petition Online, click here)

The Petition has the following wording:-
To: NTL
We the customers of NTL feel the imposing of a 1gig download limit on their broadband products totally unfair and we call on NTL to remove this limit.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

By the time AntiCap was launched in March 2003, The Petition had over 9300 signatures. We feel that this is an overwhelming response by customers so far that ntl should ignore at their peril.

Given that ntl have not actually informed a single customer (as far as we know) about the cap, the number of people who have signed the petition is nothing short of a phenomenon.

Please bear in mind that it only takes a few seconds to sign although you may wish to spend longer reading some of the comments that have been left; they make very interesting reading.

The petition has already been handed to the Minister for E-Commerce and was at one point the fastest growing petition in the world being hosted by www.petitiononline.com

Taken from the Petition's comments:

"The UK is so far behind the rest of the world in broadband, and this step just pushes it further back."

"1 gig downloads is unworkable I moved upto the 1mb so all the family could share. with 2 teenagers doing course work. I am doing an online course and hubby likes to use it sometimes!!!! 1GIG is gone."

"Why offer a 1mb service, if you can only download a Gb a day ? Try investiging more in your products."

"If NTL encourages people to buy their Broadband instead of the competitor product, then the NTL system should be able to handle the maximum transfer capacity for all users every second of the day. It looks like NTL didn't expect this demand on their systems, and should increase their capacity to handle it."

"Geese... a lesson needs to be given to NTL "How not to put Britons Internet connections in reverse" i mean... other countires are happy selling 10MB connections with unlimited access, and your slowing down Briton by CAPPING 128,512,1024 connections OMG... get a life..."

"Unethical, petty, sharp practice. NTL is either serious about providing a genuine, competitive Broadband service or it is not. I think it is definitely not in this case. They should play the game or get out of it."

"I have suggested and installed NTL broadband for 4 subscribers, NO MORE!, and I will move them as soon as there is a viable alternative."

"Great customer service ntl NOT!!! You say unlimited broadband, but impose limits?? Suggest you look up what unlimited means in the dictonary!!! "

"Always there is a 'cap/cutoff time' slipping into the 'unlimited' services, always looking for more profit! I will not buy a service with a cap"

"I signed up for unlimited access not to be capped, if you write to me once you can come and pick up the modem off my front doorstep and mind the bt van on the way out - you certainly know how to reduce your debts and keep your customers happy dont you NTL - NOT "

"Creating a 1gig downsteam limit is rediculous. I feel the reason I signed up for this package is being abused. If this does happen I for 1 am taking my custom elswhere" "Not what I signed up for - it was meant to bring the freedom of the internet "

"LIMITS!!! I pay for a 24/7 Connection regardless! Though that's not always been available with NTL. I've have my connection dropped so many times I loose count. So Much For The Information Super Highway & Freedom Of Speech That's Supoosed To Put Britain In Touch With The Rest Of The World. THIS IS A JOKE!!! "
